ANU Cheer and Dance caters for experienced dancers and cheerleaders as well as beginners and competes against universities across the country.

2025 will be the first year of the ANU Cheer and Dance Club. Previously, the clubs operated as the ANU Cheerleading Club and the ANU Competitive Dance Team, but have now combined to form the new and improved ANU Cheer and Dance Club.

The ANU Cheer and Dance Club caters to all types of athletes, focusing primarily on competitive cheer and dance, whilst also offering beginner dance teams and recreational cheer.

We offer advanced level competitive dance teams in 4 styles, University Jazz, Open All Star Hip Hop, University Lyrical and Open All Star Pom, and 2 beginner competitive teams in Novice Jazz and Novice Pom. We also offer a competitive level 1/2 non-tumble cheerleading team that is open to all athletes regardless of experience. We also have a lower commitment recreational cheer team. Additionally, athletes who have previous cheer experience can join the level 3/4 development team.

In addition to attending training each week for your teams, all teams (except novice teams) are required to attend either Strength and Conditioning (Cheer and Open All Star Hip Hop) or Technique (University Jazz, University Lyrical and Open All Star Pom).

We run lots of social events throughout the year, including commencement, ball and team bonding sessions, as well as events with other university dance and cheer clubs. It is a great chance to meet others who enjoy dance and cheer and build connections and friendships with those who have similar interests!

You will be led to competitions and pushed at training by your wonderful coaches and choreographers, as well as the hard working executive committee. Don’t be afraid to contact any of them if you have any questions. Come see us at market day, workshops and come and try sessions

We are eager to see all the new and returning faces in the studio and in the gym!
