The annual Black Mountain Battle is edging ever nearer with the crunch clash against the University of Canberra scheduled for Wednesday 25th and Thursday 26th March.

The two storied institutions will once more lock horns across a series of events and this is the perfect opportunity for you to show your ANU pride in your favourite pastime, and to see what Intervarsity Sport is all about, as ANU aim to defend the crown we won in style in 2019.

Students will compete in fifteen different games in this year’s challenge for Black Mountain supremacy, with all nominated events showcasing men’s and women’s teams, except for the Mixed sports of Touch Football and Ultimate Disc, and Netball, which is played in Women’s and Mixed Divisions, making for two days of top-class action.

“The Black Mountain Battle is a fantastic way for ANU Students to experience an Intervarsity challenge and the pride in wearing the University colours,” Sport Coordinator for ANU Sport Jesamine Wheeler commented.

“It always provides two days of friendly, but ultra-competitive action, and this year will be no different. We have added two new competitions to the roster for 2020 with AFL 9’s and Rugby 7’s joining the party, which will make for an eclectic mix of action.”

With the sporting feast set to take place at the University of Canberra on Day 1 and right here at ANU on Day 2, there’s plenty of opportunities for spectators to come along and support the University.

Indeed, for the opening day across in Bruce, ANU Sport will be arranging for a shuttle bus to transport players and spectators to and from the University into the heart of the games. Keep an eye out on our website and Facebook event page for shuttle times.

The Black Mountain Battle event is free for all participants and you can sign up by contacting the relevant ANU Sport club or Sport Coordinator Jesamine [dot] Wheeleratanu-sport [dot] com [dot] au

With Day 2 bringing the games onto campus, why not come down and support with music pumping and coffee brewing all day!
