Candidates ANU Sport Board 2026 - Ian Miller

Nominee Statement

I have been a board member for the past 2 years and am keen to continue involvement in promoting sport on campus and within the broader ANU community. I am particularly keen on progressing upgrades to facilities on campus and ensuring long term access to suitable facilities to enhance the experience of members. I am focussed on developing ANU Sport's presence within the ANU community and ensuring security of funding for sporting and related activities on campus.

Involvement in ANU Sport or broader sport sector 

I have been involved with hockey as a sport within ACT and nationally at the master level for 50+ years. I was previously a member of ANU Sport's governing council in the 1980's and have ongoing and long term ties with the ANU community. I have undertaken volunteer roles at both club and state association level.

Professional / Leadership skills and experience

I have 50 years experience in the IT sector with particular emphasis on service delivery, commercials and contracting with a technology background in networking and software development. I have also led teams in proposing and delivering major contracts for Government. I have professional qualifications in project management.

Lived Experience

I have lived in Canberra for over 60 years, bringing up a family and working here for most of that period both within and for Government at both state and federal level. My children both attended university here in the ACT - one at ANU and one at UC.
