Candidates ANU Sport Board 2026 - Tom Carlisle
Nominee Statement
My motivation to join the board of ANU Sport comes from the standpoint of student representation and in particular on-campus student representation. I hope to be an advocate and a voice for these individuals and ensure that their needs and issues are dealt with appropriately. Additionally, I aim to further the goals of ANU Sport so more people engage with the provided programs.
Involvement in ANU Sport or broader sport sector
I have been involved in ANU Sport in two main areas, being Interhall Sport and the Boat Club. In Interhall sport I’ve represented my hall as a coach and as a participant, in addition to being a referee. Furthermore, I’ve represented ANU through the Boat Club being lucky enough to represent the ACT against international competition. I have a passion for sports and exercise, and particularly the benefits that come with it, both mental and physical.
Professional / Leadership skills and experience
I have substantial experience of leadership, particularly at The ANU, currently serving as the president of Wright Hall and previously as the Inclusive Community Facilitator for Accessibility. This gives me significant understanding of student needs and unrivalled insights into them. In addition to this, I am currently the ACT State Representative for the National Association of Australian University Colleges, giving me insight into how similar organisations are run across the nation which I can bring back to the benefit of ANU Sport.
