Candidates ANU Sport Board 2026 - Riley Hawke
Nominee Statement
Whilst an ANU student my studies were shaped by the opportunities ANU Sport provided me. As a Board Director I want to ensure that ANU Sport continues to be a pillar of student life and that future generations of students are exposed to the wide range of opportunities university sport can offer. As a Board Director over the past four years, I have helped the organisation navigate difficult circumstances in the broader university sector and challenging times at the ANU. I want to continue to refine ANU Sport’s governance and strengthen our strategic alignment with the university.
Involvement in ANU Sport or broader sport sector
I have been involved with ANU Sport since 2022 when I was President of the Interhall Sports Organisation. This led to opportunities on the ANU Sport Board which I was Vice-President of in 2023 and 2024. The last 12 months as President have reinforced the importance of strategic leadership on the Board. I have also been privileged to attend UniSport Nationals as a University Team Manager. Responsible for student safety and wellbeing in a competitive setting I worked with the ANU Sport team to support over 200 athletes on the Gold Coast last year.
Professional / Leadership skills and experience
As ANU Sport President I have worked closely with management and other Directors to develop a strategic vision for the organisation that prioritises our members and focuses on delivering high quality programs for all. As a member of the Finance and Governance Subcommittees, I am committed to ANU Sport operating with best practices for the university sport sector whilst remaining affordable for students and our community. I have valued being able to work alongside long-term club volunteers in improving ANU Sport processes to ease the administrative burden on our volunteers.
