NOMINEE STATEMENT
As a dedicated member of Uni-Norths Owls Rugby Union Club, I am passionate about contributing to ANU Sport’s ongoing success. My interest in becoming a Director stems from a desire to enhance the functionality of its clubs and affiliations, fostering collaboration and growth among them. By joining the board, I hope to bring fresh perspectives and actively support initiatives that create enriching experiences for athletes, staff, and stakeholders. My motivation lies in strengthening ANU Sport’s role as a hub of excellence and community spirit.
INVOLVEMENT IN ANU SPORT OR BROADER SPORT SECTOR
As a player in the Uni-Norths Owls Rugby Union Club for the past 7 years and lover of all sports, I bring firsthand experience and a deep understanding of the local sports community. My passion lies in promoting opportunities for growth within local sporting communities and beyond. Through my lived experience, I hope to strengthen collaboration among clubs and enhance the inclusivity of the sporting community. My involvement demonstrates a commitment to building a cohesive environment where athletes and teams can thrive.
PROFESSIONAL / LEADERSHIP SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
With extensive leadership experience as the Uni-Norths Owls Rugby Club captain for 2 years and captain of the Women's Premier side for 5 years, I bring proven governance skills. My time in these roles included achieving significant milestones like 1 premiership and multiple grand final appearances. As Assistant Director of Resourcing at Allygroup, I directly manage a team of junior staff, demonstrating expertise in leadership, and operational efficiency. My experience on the executive committee at Owls further developed my strategic thinking. This experience has equipped me to contribute meaningfully to the Board in governance, leadership, and organisational growth.
As a proud Pacific Islander and experienced leader in both sport and professional settings, I bring a unique cultural perspective that enriches the diversity of the Board. My background fosters values of community, resilience, and inclusivity, which align with ANU Sport's mission. Leading as club captain and women’s premier team captain for Uni-Norths Owls Rugby has developed my ability to unite diverse groups and celebrate differences. Representing women in leadership roles within sports and professional settings allows me to advocate for inclusivity and equity. These experiences, combined with my passion for community success, contribute meaningfully to the Board's diversity.
