O-Week Success for ANU Sport

FEATURE: O-Week saw a new group of students sign up on a busy market day.

It’s been a busy week for ANU Sport as O-Week brought the annual influx of new students to the University and a chance for us, and our member clubs, to showcase exactly what we have to offer – the highlight being a superbly attended Market Day on Wednesday.

Our 35 clubs were in attendance to attract new members to their eclectic mix of sporting pursuits and activities on a beautiful, if occasionally blustery, event day held on University Avenue.

There was an air of excitement around the stalls with the clubs showcasing their talents, whilst ANU Sport staff extolled the virtues of our incredible gym and facilities, our gym membership continuing to be the best value on campus, whilst there was plenty of information around our superb value short courses.

Tours of our facilities proved immensely popular with our free 7-Day trial for new students attracting a raft of potential new members eager to try their hand on our extensive range of equipment.

Throughout the week our diligent members of the Blue Squad were out and about each day, providing much needed hydration in the form of bottled water, plenty of information on our fitness classes and membership options, and some freebies including some wristbands and cookies!

The Blue Squad worked in association with Engagement and Success to welcome students and provide exposure to all the opportunities for student engagement on campus beyond just their academic pursuits with huge success.

Morning sessions of our Free Yoga were another highlight with large numbers turning up to stretch out the muscles, whilst those looking for some more active morning workouts took part in the Free Outdoor Tactical Sessions held at Willows.

A well-attended Scavenger Hunt took in ANU Sport as part of their run around campus with the week concluded by a superb Friday Night Party to wrap up the festivities, both ANUSA run events that ANU Sport was proud to support.

Missed out on any of the fun? You can still sign up for any of our clubs by visiting our webpage and clicking on the Clubs heading. Students can also still take advantage of our 7-Day free gym trial by heading to reception in the ANU Sport Building and asking our friendly staff for more information.
